Warranty Claims

How to make a claim under the Lifetime Tool Guarantee.

If your Britool Hallmark tool has developed a fault you believe is covered by our Lifetime Tool Guarantee, we will endeavour to put things right quickly, fairly and without unnecessary hassle.

The guarantee is provided and administered by TradeMarque Tools on behalf of Britool Hallmark.

1. Before You Claim

The Lifetime Tool Guarantee covers defects in materials and manufacturing workmanship for the expected working life of the tool, not the lifetime of the purchaser or an unlimited period of ownership.

  • Premature breakage or failure caused by defective materials or manufacturing workmanship.
  • Faulty components resulting from manufacturing or assembly defects.

It does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear, including worn working surfaces, cosmetic deterioration and corrosion from poor storage or maintenance.
  • Misuse, overloading, extension tubes or extra leverage, chrome hand sockets used with impact machinery, accidental damage, modification or unauthorised repairs.
  • Normal wear of consumable and serviceable components, such as ratchet mechanisms, screwdriver and driver bits, blades and cutting edges.

See the full Lifetime Tool Guarantee for all terms and exclusions.

2. How to Make a Claim

Please contact us before returning the product. Email enquiries@britoolhallmark.com or call 01543 577177 with:

  1. Product description and part number, where available.
  2. A brief explanation of the fault and how it occurred.
  3. Clear photographs showing the affected tool and defect.
  4. Proof of purchase, where available, or other reasonable evidence of purchase.

We may request additional information or ask for the product to be returned for inspection before determining whether a repair or replacement is appropriate.

Please do not dispose of a faulty tool before contacting us, as we may need to examine it.

3. Returning Your Tool for Inspection

If we ask you to return the tool, we will provide return instructions. Please do not send any item without contacting us first.

Customers making a claim under our voluntary Lifetime Tool Guarantee are responsible for arranging and initially paying the cost of returning the product for inspection.

All returned tools should be suitably packaged to prevent damage during transit. We recommend using a tracked delivery service and retaining proof of postage.

4. What Happens Next

Once received, the tool will be examined to establish the nature and cause of the failure. All claims are assessed fairly, taking into account the nature of the failure, the tool's age, its intended application and its expected working life.

Where a claim is accepted:

  • We will repair or replace the defective product at no charge.
  • We will arrange delivery of the repaired or replacement product to a UK address at our expense.

If an identical replacement is no longer available, we may provide an equivalent product of comparable specification and functionality.

Where a claim is not accepted, we will explain the reason and discuss the available options. We may, at our discretion, offer goodwill assistance in cases falling outside the formal guarantee terms.

5. Ratchets and Moving Parts

Normal wear of ratchet gears, pawls, springs and other internal moving components is not covered by the guarantee. Where available, replacement ratchet mechanisms and repair kits can be purchased to extend the working life of the tool.

Where inspection establishes that a ratchet mechanism or other moving component has failed prematurely due to defective materials or manufacturing workmanship, the claim will be considered under our guarantee.

6. UK Coverage

The guarantee applies to eligible Britool Hallmark products purchased within the United Kingdom. Guarantee claims and return arrangements are available to UK customers with a UK return address only.

7. Your Statutory Rights

These arrangements apply to claims made under our voluntary guarantee and do not affect your statutory rights, including those under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and any entitlement to reimbursement of reasonable return costs where required by law.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
